Why your organisation should run a Workplace Choir

A workplace choir is one of the simplest, most joyful ways to boost wellbeing at work. Singing together lowers stress, lifts mood and gives people a genuine mental break in the middle of a busy week. It builds connection across teams and seniorities, sparks a bit of fun, and sends everyone back to their desks feeling lighter. No experience needed — just a room, some willing voices, and me.

I've been leading singing and community choirs since 2013, and I run workplace choirs in Oxford today — including the Department of Psychiatry's "Walrus" choir at the University of Oxford, open to staff across neighbouring medical and research teams. Every session is warm, welcoming and completely unintimidating. Whatever your organisation, I'll shape a choir that fits your people and your space.

Hear what my workplace clients have to say:

"Philip has been absolutely brilliant in creating a vibrant and popular staff singing group. Not only is he a brilliant choir leader but also has a wonderful ability to make everyone feel relaxed, laugh and have fun in every session. The feedback from staff is that the sessions have an enormous impact — for many they are the high point of their week and the ultimate way to de-stress after a hard day's work."

I consider myself and our workplace extremely lucky to have crossed paths with Philip. Working with him for well over a year now, I can attest to Philip's professionalism, expertise and importantly sheer enthusiasm for running community choirs. Staff of all roles and seniorities attend his sessions, with many saying that Wednesdays have become their favourite day of their week because that's when our choir is and it is just purely fun and welcoming."
